In March 2021, CJ Aero Engineering, previously known as Yates Aero Engineering, was integrated into the CJ Aerospace group of companies which now include Australia’s largest stockist of general aviation parts, commercially leased aircraft and our Part 145 approved MRO.
CJ Aero Engineering is located conveniently at Cairns International Airport. We have a team of highly qualified, experienced staff who are dedicated to providing the highest quality maintenance and repairs to our customers, with the end goal of keeping the aviation community flying.
Specialising in charter aircraft maintenance for both Australian and Pacific Island based aircraft, we focus on both piston and turbo prop aircraft, including Beechcraft King Air, Cessna Caravans and Beech 1900s. Employing nine staff including three LAMEs and a qualified Quality and Safety Officer, the highly qualified experienced staff are dedicated to delivering customers high quality maintenance and repairs service with the end goal getting customers back in the air.

Craig Jones
Accountable Manager
After having been in the aviation industry since the young age of 18 as both a pilot and LAME, Craig started up CJ Aerospace, an aviation spare parts business. Starting with just a handful of parts from his garage, CJ Aerospace now operates from both Cairns and Sydney and boasts to be one of Australia’s largest, most experienced aviation parts distributors. In 2020 the opportunity arose to incorporate an established MRO business to the CJ Aero brand. Craigs extensive personal aviation knowledge and experience has helped to develop CJ Aero Engineering to be synonymous with the well known and trusted CJ Aero brand.
Daniel Shaw
Responsible Manager
With over 20yrs experience working in the aviation sector, Dan has worked on a variety of aircraft in a number of locations. During this time, he has managed a variety of teams through line and heavy maintenance facilities. In Dans earlier days, he worked in a dual role with AeroRescue whereby he not only maintained the aircraft used for search and rescue, but was also highly involved in a number of missions which resulted in numerous lives being saved.
Chris Foster
Chief Engineer
Chris also has over 20yrs industry experience in aircraft maintenance. Starting his career in 1995, Chris quickly developed a passion for all things aviation and a commitment to the industry. Having worked in a variety of repair and maintenance organisations, Chris has the skills, knowledge and experience to provide quality service. Chris has worked in both our Cairns Airport Hangar facility and our Horn Island Line Maintenance facility and is a highly valued senior member of the CJ Aero Engineering team.
